The NRA is demonized by the anti-gun lobby because they recognize it as a potent force in direct opposition to their own agenda. Ironically, the NRA is one of the few lobbies that actually is made up of individual citizens instead of a political group. It's ENTIRE political agenda is based on protecting and preserving the rights of the individual citizen. The anti-gun lobby, on the whole is made up of groups who's agendas demand that the private citizen be unarmed, with the right to bear arms reserved for the "powers that be" (read that as reserving the right to bear arms to others who think like they do). The totalitarianism of a socialist society, with all power vested in a central government cannot exist in a nation where the people, by law are allowed to keep and bear arms, and where they exercise that right.

I am not a member of the NRA, but perhaps I should be. They are fighting for my rights.
