KANAKARIS SIGNS CONTRACTS TO PLACE OVER 2,500 BOOKS ONLINE, BEGINNING ITS EMERGENCE AS THE WORLD DOWNLOADABLE LEADER; KANAKARIS CITES Industry Figures Which Proclaim the Advent of a New Electronic Publishing Medium
ST. LOUIS, Jul 30, 1999 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Kanakaris Communications, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: KKRS) announced today three major breakthroughs in its quest to become the World Downloadable Leader, an Internet company known for direct over-the-Internet delivery of movies, books, and music. Kanakaris cites industry research estimating that over $600 million worth of text sales now occur annually on the Internet and that this number will increase to $3 billion within five years. Kanakaris also cites the estimate of a world leading software company executive with an expertise in publishing, that 20 to 40 percent of these sales will be electronic (direct over-the-Internet as opposed to traditional print) within five years.
"Based on Overwhelming demand to distribute books at the NetBooks.com segment of the upcoming Kanakaris KKRS.Net web channel, we are pleased to announce that we have now concluded contracts easily making Kanakaris the#1 distributor of direct over-the-Internet delivery of copyrighted books," stated a Company spokesperson.

The three breakthroughs which Kanakaris touts are: 1) Kanakaris has signed contracts granting online delivery rights ofover 2500 books utilizing the ION technology it has introduced to the Internet. As designed for the Kanakaris web sites, different security levels may be selected by copyright holders and Internet users can resize type, turn pages without scrolling, and search interactively by word or phrase. Humanics Publishing, Lion Hearted Publishing, Bell Star Books, Silverlake Publishing, Access Publisher's Network, Spaniel Publications, Al Johnson, and Matt Tech Inc., are among those who will be utilizing the Kanakaris web site for increased sales revenue.

2) Kanakaris, in its strategic alliance with ION Systems, Inc., willbe able to automate the process of online book posting this year, resulting in both faster and more economical encoding of books in the ION secure format. Kanakaris will also offer interviews and additional features with the ION technology.

3) Kanakaris will double its online book offerings (from about 250 to about 500) within thirty days, thanks to the Company adding staff in conjunction with its ION partnership to help post books manually while the automation process is developmentally completed. Once the next step in the technology is finished, within approximately 90 days, Kanakaris will be able to economically and efficiently begin posting the over 2, 500 titles already approved for participation in this unique distribution process.

Kanakaris demonstrates technology applications in St. Louis: These three breakthroughs were concluded during four days of meetings between CEO Alex Kanakaris and Jill Thomas, President of ION Systems anda Kanakaris advisory board member. Representatives of Kanakaris Communications, ION Systems and the Xybernaut Corporation also participated in a demonstration of online delivery and wearable computer technology in greater St. Louis, Missouri, coinciding with the executive level meetings.

Kanakaris will utilize the signed contracts for online book distribution, as well as those pending, which are successfully completed, to drive content for its upcoming KKRS.Net web channel of interactive programming. The NetBooks.com Kanakaris proprietary site will be fully integrated into the KKRS.Net web channel home page now being designed by Kanakaris web master John McKay.
