CG, Why? That is easy to explain Cory. You see AMD has the Athlon and the Athlon is coming out of hiding soon. It was suppose to come out of hiding in June but that doesn't matter. But it will be out in August. Maybe August 8, some say August 10 for sure. The Athlon will be better than anything Intel has ever come up with and Intel will never come up with anything better. Right now no one knows exactly what the performance is but that doesn't matter. The company's whiz-bang just quit in a huff but that doesn't matter because he needed a good dose of reality anyway. They say he wanted to scale down the big Fab over in Saxony but his boss Jerry whose guiding hand has produced a continuing stream of operating losses strongly disagreed. None of this really matters and AMD just reported to the press bloodhounds that they were looking for a partner to share the expense of the big Saxony fab anyway. Let me just conclude and say that there are endless reasons that dont matter but that doesn't matter either.

Now that it is perfectly clear to you, subject closed.

RE: << The question you should be asking with this buy the rumor sell the news market is why hasn't AMD taken off with the upcoming Athlon shipment announcements?>>

Because of its checkered history, I think AMD is an anomaly; unlike the rest of the market, its sell the rumor, buy the news. I think you will see movement in the stock's price once the K7's are shipping in volume. When? Don't ask?

Cory - Re: "The question you should be asking with this buy the rumor sell the news market is why hasn't AMD taken off with the upcoming Athlon shipment announcements? Why haven't the institutions poured money into this company based on expected upside?
Why?"

Excellent observations.
