Count on a member or members of the US Congress proposing legislation regarding electronic brokerages and use thereof. They will take a run at more warnings etc. Some congressman will probably propose something unusual regarding limitations just to get publicity. They will probably take a wack at getting rid of the commercials which suggest probable wealth as a consequence of electronic trading. Or do the tobacco warning thing. NBC Dateline ran a segment about daytrading last night. More negative publicity will follow regarding the hazards of daytrading/electronic brokerages. This publicity, a choppy or declining market, and Y2K, will cause a decline in volume/total aggregate funds in electronic brokerages and/or severely curtail growth in the near term. As a consequence who wants to buy electronic brokerage stock?

Y2K will NOT be much of a factor. The financial industry especially is on record as being ready and many others are on the way... Those looking to short based only on Y2K will be hurt... JMO
