Tom, It looks like Xilinx is everyones' favorite right now. I'm wondering if at the current valuations, if Altera might be the better investment. Historically these two have been playing catch up with each other and now it seems for the moment Xilinx is ahead. Projected next year earnings are a $1.34 for Altera and $1.66 for Xilinx. Xilinx's earnings are about 25% higher; but it's stock price is 80% higher then Altera's. Current price for Altera is 36 and Xilinx is 64 1/2; that makes Xilinx stock almost 80% higher than Altera's while the next year earning are only 25% higher. I know everybody is in love with Xilinx right now; but historically these two usually catch up to one another over time, so I would buy Altera right now.
