jbe and all,

I have been in meetings most of the day and just recently had a chance to review the latest messages on this thread.

At first, I couldn't believe what I was reading - especially accusations that we would ever purposely "censor" SI members in any way. So I checked for myself and indeed, the first old SI Petition Thread was tops on the old SI Hot List and nowhere to be found on the New SI Hot List. I assure you - I blushed.

However, I did notice that the second SI Petition Thread was listed at the top of the new SI Hot Subjects list (2nd place on the old SI).

If censorship was our intention, we would have deleted both and we would have deleted them from the old SI as well. :)

So, what happened? With a little research, it quickly became clear that no subjects started in the Coffee Shop were appearing in the new SI Hot List. (In fact, another message on this thread suggested as much.)

At that point, I called Brad immediately. As I explained the situation, he confirmed that we had separated the Coffee Shop message database from all of the other message databases, and that he had probably re-used some of that code for the new SI Hot List. (I think I heard him blush as well).

In any case, Brad is on the case, and we'll have it fixed in a jiffy.

I hope you'll accept my apologies for the mistake.

Thanks,

Bryan
