They are the ones gambling- we have nothing to lose if we are wrong-- pity the families of men to prideful to prepare as they have alot to lose.

Just what the hell am I gambling, Jeff??

Is there something wrong with my having an aversion to turning my residence into one huge gigantic water storage facility when ALL I NEED IS A WATER FILTER (with spare elements) and a fairly clean body of water??

How much stored water is enough, folks??

Get a friggin' filter, 50 gallons worth of collapsible storage containers and learn to work with your friggin' neighbors to shares the burden of running to get water on a weekly basis from the nearest body of water.

You all seem like a bunch of urban survialists. It's amazing that mankind ever managed to survive through the ages without a years worth of stored food, batteries, and water sitting in their house.

Hell, I've survived for a week just relying on the stuff I carried in my rucksack.

Anyone ever heard of a solar still?? Melting Snow and some of those 6 inches of ice you all are gripin' about??

Geezus!!! Those with snow and ice are going to be the last people who need to complain about something so basic as water. They'll be more worried about staying warm and having fuel to cook with.

You all need to get a life and apply just a bit of common sense to these preparations.

Those who store large quantities of food may find themselves evacuated from an area and those stores forever lost. Or they may find themselves robbed by others.

Everybody's personal situation is different. There is no "one size, fits all" contingency plan for personal preparation.

So prepare people... but prepare like you should have already prepared for any other disaster, and get on with your lives. Y2K is not the end of the world.

Oh an by the way Jeff... so friggin' what if the water company over-purifies the water. Let it sit in a BOWL or OPEN JUG and AEORATE.

The chemicals are the same ones you drink RIGHT NOW. They are just more concentrated. Maybe you could go visit that body of water and find a supply with which to dilute that coming from your tap.

Think people... Think.

Regards,

Ron
