You delude yourself about Reagan. He actually acted much like a corporate chairman with a board of directors. His philosophy and ideals were, at the core, much the same as they were when he was a lifeguard growing up in Illinois.

As for taxes, how was defense paid for during the 1700s and 1800s? Seems to me we had quite a lot of wars then too. Just as expensive based on their dollars...
