Mike, i don't know if it was Templeton, but it is a tried and true concept. my reference to the 'death of gold' was an allusion to the classic Business Week Cover story entitled 'the death of equities' which appeared in the summer of '82 and marked the beginning of the greatest bull market in history.

Mike,

The question of pessimism is relative. How do we gauge that pessimism is now "highest". You have people like myself, who while pessimistic near term, still think it's possible for the market to rebound. So by definition that would make me optimistic. Truthfully, I don't think we're anywhere close to pessimism at the "highest". I'd say we would have to see much steeper losses before that claim will be correct.
