I don't think it's a black and white situation here. yes...you are right in a way, but why is it that the more guns in a nation the higher the murder rate? why does the USA have one of the highest murder rates on earth? Taking your argument to the extreme, are nuclear weapons, which are also "inanimate objects" no more "intrinsically evil than say, a hammer?" Why are people and families that own guns 7 times more likely to be shot? (fact). What about crimes of passion? If this dip shit in atlanta had gone berserk with a hammer, do you think so many people would have died??? of course not.
Fortunately, this nation is being rudely awakened to the need for tighter gun control(Colombine, etc. etc. etc. ad naseum), and your argument that guns are "inanimate objects" seems more and more ridiculous every day. But i appreciate and respect your perspective. But why do you feel the need to own guns? you are statistically more likely to get blown away. Are you going to shoot someone who breaks into your house? What if it's yor son or his friend? jds
