China PC Shipments Rise 15.7% in First Half, China Daily Says

Beijing, Aug. 2 (Bloomberg) -- A total of 2.04 million personal computers were shipped to Chinese customers in the first six months of the year, a 15.7 percent rise compared with the same period in 1998.

China's information technology market, which totaled $9.24 billion in 1998, is expected to grow by 24.3 percent in 1999 and by 31.3 percent in 2000 to become the largest in Asia outside Japan, according to market research firm International Data Corp.
