Nice figures. More revealing than a blonde receptionist!

One thing that helps Bezos maintain the "story" is that Amazon refuses to break out category sales figures or growth rates. Perhaps if the "true story" were told it would be seen that a large portion of the growth has come through costly acquisitions and give-away marketing programs that cannot be sustained if the company ever hopes to reach profitability. We can't tell for sure because the company doesn't want to be honest with investors. Maybe this is what they are, in essence, saying: "Trust me . . . we have a magic formula for future profits. And whenever the current rendition of that formula starts to loose momentum, we'll just go out on another expansion binge and pump things up to a new level of debt and $5 for $4 inspired sales growth. . . Trust me!"

Maybe investors should gain access to the records so they can figure out what the "true story" is.
