Fred,

Some car changes ended up being huge blunders in retrospect...i.e. the original Mustang

This is a very apt analogy.

My wife, who drives around every day in a 97 528i, still misses her first car, a powder blue 1965 Mustang. We still see one every now on then on the rust-free freeways here.

Perhaps the SI decision makers will come to their senses and realize the extent of what appears to be enormous dissatisfaction with their efforts to "improve" the product.

Perhaps not. Ford didn't and a lot of former Ford owners, like her, and would-be Ford customers, like me, have never owned another Ford. However, I didn't buy her that car - her father did. I didn't know her yet.
