Hi Tony! re small vs big caps as timely investments I believe the investment advisor stating that small caps have outperformed is incorrect. Probably citing old data that is biased in some way. Both Laszlo Birinyi and Ken Fisher of Forbes magazine have done extensive research on the stock market over different periods. They both have discussed the outperformance of big caps many times over the last several years, and even talked about the reasons for it. A very small number of very select small caps will outperform. But across the board? No. Birinyi's columns for the last two years are available here.
