Dan4-1 - Re: "why INTC first threatened, then actually filed a lawsuit against, VIA to attempt to force them to ship slower products than their capabilities permitted. "

Intel filed a suit against VIA - true - for IP or a licensing violation.

Do you know the DETAILS of the law suit ?

Did Intel file for an INJUNCTION against VIA - to stop them from shipping some product ?

I haven't heard of such a request - maybe you have ?

Paul

Dan3 - Re: "What I wonder about, is why INTC first threatened, then actually filed a lawsuit against [VIA} ..."

The Intel complaint says because VIA reneged on an agreement on the use of the licensed INTEL technology. Trident also filed a law suit against VIA for reneging on an agreement involving the Trident graphics chip technology.

VIA also has a well-earned reputation for not living up to the deals it makes.

Do you see a pattern here, Danny boy?
