<< Do Alcatel and Fujitsu both license DSL techology from Westell?>>

Kenneth, Fujitsu licenses from Westell, Alcatel does not.

Westell signed an agreement with Alcatel in January to incorporate Alcatel's DynaMiTe two chip set into a line of Westell CPE equipment. Thus Westell now has a modem compatible with Alcatel CO equipment. I don't know of any current arrangements in which Alcatel is licensing from Westell, but I may be wrong.

In June Westell annnounced a stategic alliance with Fujitsu in which Westell would license its DSL technology to Fujitsu as well as promote further ADSL and HDSL product development and global marketing. To some extent Fujitsu in Europe is a conduit for Westell. In the US Fujitsu is currently working with Orckit through which they have the GTE contract. DR.TECH has given us reason to believe that when GTE merges with BA, the new contract for GTE will go at least in part to Westell who has had a long standing and positive relationship with GTE.

All the best,
Michael
