Albertson's, where are you, Albertson's? May 21.1999 MDMI announced this news: " MDMI is providing Albertson's with gourmet pastries for the Albertson's Coffee Shops located in selected Albertson's stores. MDMI is currently shipping products to 9 Albertson's locations in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, with plans to include shipments to future locations as they come on line." ---- Subsequently I posted: May 21: Finally, some genuinely good news. This is the sort of news that will move the stock. What Massimo's does best is the wholesale merchandising of coffee and their baked goods to real world establishments. I hope they do well at Albertson's. And maybe MDMI might have another chance at Kroger. June 22: A month ago, MDMI Announced: "MDMI is providing Albertson's with gourmet pastries for the Albertson's Coffee Shops located in selected Albertson's stores. MDMI is currently shipping products to 9 Albertson's locations in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, with plans to include shipments to future locations as they come on line." So, MDMI, how's it going? Any new stores? How are your pastries moving? Do we have a winner? July 5: This was the answer posted by LaGuardia/Two Trades: The deal with Albertson's is a "roll-out" program. Meaning Alberston's and MDMI have agreed to put product in 9 stores and evaluate the sales of those products. There is no definitive time line associated with this evaluation, but Dana Verrill has confirmed that so far things are progressing "quite well", and they are hopeful new stores will be added in the near future. Mr. Verrill further stated that he does not anticipate to press release each individual new Albertson's that is selling the products, but he will share such information with La Guardia GFS so we can update the shareholders. Well, Laguardia. Specifically, which stores are carrying Massimo's pastries in their coffee shops? Has MDMI expanded their sales position with Albertson's, is it remaining the same, or is it losing ground? Are they selling at a profitable rate? After six weeks there should be ample feedback to "evaluate the sales of those products" and give shareholders a more intelligent response than "things are progressing 'quite well'". How about some real numbers and hard, honest facts? Good or bad. July 20: I still want to know how the Albertson trial is going - facts, not condescending reassurances. Response from La Guardia: "The Albertson's deal is still in its evaluation period". ----------------------------------------- Today, August 5: There have been no updates about Albertson's sales. Nothing significant has been posted by LG or MDMI about the progress or lack of progress in this venture. Has Massimo's dropped the ball again? If, after eleven weeks they are hesitant to provide stockholders with some factual information, I think it's safe to say, MDMI, YOU BLEW IT AGAIN!! MDMI, you can change my mind with some facts and figures proving otherwise. In fact, I would really like to see this succeed. How about it? _______________________________________ Marc Stager
