I wonder what exactly this Barton character was doing at these day trading firms? The news reports said he was getting evicted from his house and his estranged wife let him and the kids move into her apartment 'cause she didn't want to see them out on the street. That would lead one to believe he didn't have that much cash. So what kind of trading was the brokerage letting him do to lever up enough to drop 20 grand on Tuesday alone - the day everything started? Maybe the scheme to get 125% home equity loans and credit card advances which are then plowed into the market and margined out is a bigger problem than we ever thought.
