Labrador. Value line earnings upgrade is pos news, but in my opinion very cautious. If you take the $0.86 June pro forma and compound it forward using a 35% and 45% annual rate you get FYE 9/2000 earnings of $4.35 to $4.80. Yet we saw an apx 43%/quarter jump in pro forma from March to June. So what gives here?? I mean, we've got the Christmas season coming up too. I think analyst are very optomistic but very cautious about going out on any limb w/o other analysts there too. So, if G* gets off to a reasonable start (mucho vender financing), Sept results grow like June earnings, the Europeans & Chinese are unsuccessful in creating some major disadvantage, and Q executes providing ASIC's w/ a wealth of features and capabilities of Japanese and Korean customers, Then a major analyst upgrade could me upcoming between Sept 1999 and March 2000.
That is (IF)^4 which leaves a real and significant probability of bad things springing out of the blue. I just don't see these bad events on today's horizon, but circumstances can and do change rapidly.
