"The Emperor awaits you!!"

In this case the evil Emperor is the IRS. In the 1980s Reagan spoke of an "evil empire" -- I contend our "evil empire" is the IRS...

There is absolutely no reason churches shouldn't pay the same taxes that other businesses must. They are already getting free fire and police protection free along with sewers, roads, etc. This has nothing to do with hate or free speech. If you want to go to church I really don't give a shit, but don't expect me to subsidize your brainwashing.

The reason they are not taxed is because the power to tax is also recognized as the power to destroy.

The logic here seems to be that the power to tax is the power to destroy, and since the constitution does not allow the state to destroy churches, it therefore should not allow the state to tax churches.

Well, the constitution also prohibits the state from destroying me. Does that mean the state should be prohibited from taxing me? If I use that logic as an excuse for not paying taxes, will the IRS let me get away with it?

Or do churches have privileges that the rest of us don't?
