Hi Cobe,
I am currently in the new format, and it's not nearly as bad as it was the other night, when I thought I'd been sent to hell.
I also like the 10 post thingie...
And they must have done something to the color scheme because it's not grating as much as it did...
I care mostly about SPEED. And right now it's acting about like the old one... I find myself getting confused trying to figure out the new posts, but that may be a question of getting used to things.
I'm going to stay here tonight.... and switch back and forth. I think a lot of this is very psychological and for those of us who KNOW each other in the old format, it's disconcerting. You are no longer the same Cobe, you're Cobe with new make-up, or new hairstyle. We rely on visual comfort in these relationships. PRobably more than pure stock people.
I would like some reassurance that they're not going to mess with our past.

<<<<I probably should keep my nose out of this, I have a bad tendency to piss people off, and I don't want to step on anyone's toes, especially since the rest of you guys are so adamantly opposed.>>>>

Yah. Stay out of it. You have a tendency to piss people off.

I'm sorry. I couldn't resist that.

It's the lightning rod thing, Coby, for me. I think everybody digs the read ten messages thing. Way. Way way way x 3. Haven't heard a complaint about that yet. ("Wait just a second......here. Here's one.")

I think you, and everyone, except me, as I am moving to Portugal, should discuss the merits of the new system, as honestly as they can. I LIKE that you're doing that. (It's making me extremely horny, as a matter of fact.)

I say CRUSH their feelings, like carrot salad. You put carrots in that end and you get splinters out the other end. HOW DARE THEY DINK WITH OUR SI. If they so much as suggest it doesn't belong to us and the mind of the Dyers....or Dryers or whoever they are...

They're going to hell, without sandals.

I'm sorry they lost their minds. It's really too bad.

I think, also, they're unable to respond because of the alligators. And they need some slack. But they only gave us thirty days to live.

What is The Lightning Rod?

It's something you see coming. It's AOL. It's homogenizing. It's the suspicion and experience and facts we all have learned about getting people to "accept" things. Especially things they already don't like the style of.

SI, in a way, GO2 that is, needs to come clean. They need to Generate Revenue. That's what this is all about. NOTHING else, And changes will come down the format tubes until they do. That's what HALF of these changes are about. Manipulating the mainstream into a power plant.

Should they be able to do that? Well, it's irrelevant to ask. They have to.

This is a result of the decisions of the original owners, and there are only so many ways it can work out. So many ways the buyers can return their investment. We've been living on borrowed time since the sale.

The obvious reverse of this, is that if SI had not been sold for these amounts, it is likely none of this would be being undertaken, under these pressures it is.

They sold it for a lot of money. Kind of, end of story.

If it were the Dryers, I could maybe believe that. But it isn't the Dryers anymore. It's some GNET junior exec and his team of accountants and PR engineers. Tehy don't HAVE feelings - not while the suit is on.

And you have a voice as much as I - so don't be shy with your opinions. If you can point out something I've been missing - I benefit. So I'm all ears.

But Rambi and Gaug make some awful good points. Imo that's more important than the pride of G-Yahoo's sled dogs. <hrmph>
