Beta bug - The new SI subjectmarks doesn't display the whole thread title. For example in new SI it's AX cOUSIN SHORTY,,,STOK Market GREW and famous AUT but the full title is AX cOUSIN SHORTY,,,STOK Market GREW and famous AUTHOR!!!! #Subject-20947

My point was that the masses at large will resist change of the norm - good, bad, or indifferent. The way I see it, change is upon us, like it or not. I accept that Go2Net owns this property and they have the absolute right to operate it in a manner of their choosing. Nonetheless, they aren't doing it blindly - users were calling for change and enhancements, and they have committed the resources to provide exactly that. Some of the change is operational and some is cosmetic, but most if not all of it was brought about by user suggestion. When you get right down to it, the -basic- functionality is really no different than the classic site. SubjectMarks, PeopleMarks, Next, Previous, Respond, Hot Subjects, New Subjects, Portfolios. However: We can now read messages ten at a time, and lists are generally better formatted to reduce the amount of scrolling. We can customize our toolbar. We have lost some functionality of the search engine, but it has been said those features will be brought back and additional options provided that have never existed on the classic site. We now have the ability to create folders and archive messages, a much requested enhancement. Quotes have been improved, and I believe there is still a possibility that messages will be timestamped, another often requested function. Don't like the width of the display area? You can customize that to your liking. Want your messages bordered? You can customize that as well. Want to turn off banner ads on the message threads? Just click the appropriate box. Don't like the color scheme? Then put on some rose colored glasses. 8-) I was busy this past week and tried to catch up today. To say the least, I was disappointed in the change towards the negative tone over the past few days. Many of the users critical of the changes are the very same who were calling for them. SI gave them a new rope, and they promptly hung themselves with it. Is there an emoticon for sadly shaking one's head?
