I don't know who these bearish people are. Maybe there are some here, on SI, on particular threads, but in general people are convinced we live in the best of all possible times, that the market (eventually, despite little dips like last fall) always goes up, that stocks are "safe" and the "best" investment, that diversifying is no longer necessary, and that everyone should be invested- no matter what their age. I don't know anyone who is worried enough to have much cash on hand- everyone we know seems to be fully invested, prepared to "ride out" anything that comes along (because, of course, they are convinced, it won't be too bad)
