At the present it is a premium service, I hope the future will bring the mass market. (As color TV, single vs party line, ect.)

But the future is now. If they can't break away from the premium service mode, AOL will get the first hand to solicitate customers by adding a new pop-up ad as soon as a user logon. What I really want to say is, if ATHM can't break out of this mode, AOL and the like may surpass ATHM with ADSL. Then ATHM's future is not so guaranteed. The earlier they can break out of premium service mode, the better future you can expect. The competition is fierce, ATHM's future is far from guaranteed. You know, AOL can also offer "Color TV". "Color TV" is not ATHM's patent.

You under estimate so many, why is AOL trying to get broad band, from what you indicate they don't need it.

Everybody loves the broadband speed. But most uneducated folks love to save $20 also. Broadband is good but not a 'gotta have it' service. With 17 million subscribers already, AOL can afford to act more slowly than ATHM. As long as AOL can secure its position through the ADSL strategy, its position in the future of broad band access is pretty much secured. However, ATHM is facing higher risks than that for AOL. If ATHM can't reach critical mass in a shortest time possible, the market may not give ATHM another chance.

Please share this knowledge with the rest of us. Where can I get it. What computer manufacture is doing this, I would love to buy some stock in them. They are way ahead of the rest in Technology.

Sorry. What I should say is this is in TJ's list of things to do already. I am not so worried.
