Maybe that's one of the reasons you don't have that much money. The kind of character it takes to make that kind of money respects individual enterprise, despises lack of discipline and laziness, and sees what inherited wealth has done to so many children of the wealthy. Read what Warren Buffett has to say on the same subject. As the article pointed out, Gates has read Andrew Carnegie's book on the responsibilities of wealth -- and he should know. If his kids can't turn $10 million into respectable fortunes (even if they aren't already wealthy by the time he dies, which they certainly will have every chance to be with all the educational opportunities and access to power being his children will provide them with) then they don't deserve to be rich.
