Here is Southern Cal we have a large computer store called Microcenter. About a month ago they started running a $400 off sale with 3 years of MSN. People were lined up by the hundreds buying lowend Celeron's and Emachines. I was back this weekend and was shocked at what I saw. The hardware department normally has a space in the corner were they sell returned computers,yellow tagged and discounted. Yesterday, the entire area was stacked 6 deep with yellow tagged machines. There must have been 100 of them. They were mostly low end Celeron's. If this trend is indicative of the whole "free" computer marketing campaign, it is very good news for DELL. We also have two very good PC builders here in So CAl. (Techmedia and EZ Computer). Between the 2 of them they had over 25 stores in LA and Orange Counties. They have both bellied up in the last 6 months. I believe the PC industry is eating its young and only the very strongest will survive.
