<<This is a blatant lie! You are as bad as the London reporter! EVERYONE should get their facts straight before spreading such bunk.<<

Calm down. These are the facts as reported in the Seattle Times:

"Tom Rhodes, the Sunday Times' New York correspondent who interviewed the elder Gates last week, said he did extrapolate the $100 billion amount using an estimate of Gates' total worth. Rhodes acknowledged that Gates Sr. never mentioned such an amount, and that he got the idea from reading earlier stories where Gates said he plans to donate his fortune to charity."

This means that the reporter "made up" the story based on info that everyone has known for years (that Gates Junior has pledged to give away much of his wealth). The only fact I missed was calling him "The London Reporter", as it is not clear where the reporter is based. A minor mistake for which I apologize.

Your response seems overblown and I don't believe that I have spread any bunk. Rather, I have been picking up the mess this "journalist" left.
