In an effort to continue to post at least ONE good news story daily, I offer the following submission:

cnnsi.com

I apologize in advance that it's another sports story. Really, I'm not just looking for these types of stories, it just happened to turn out that way.

Tony Gwynn has always been a "sports hero" of sorts to me. This guy is a walking example of loyalty. He has been one of the best hitters in Major League Baseball for many years now, and has always played his heart out. He has had the option to take the path that many others take, and that is to play for the highest bidder. But no, Tony Gwynn has played his entire career for the San Diego Padres. He has become one of those "beloved" sports stars that local fans adore. And even in the many lean years when the team wasn't doing well, you could (and still can) expect Tony to be giving his best.

Hat's off and many 909's to you Tony Gwynn. Enjoy your 3000 hit milestone. You're an inspiration to many.

909's,
-Joe
