So it appears to me that Sun's new chip is potentially complimentary to Neo and other graphic chip company's offerings.

I think "potentially complimentary (sic)" is understating it. Given the targeted devices for this new chip - pda's, mobile phones, set top boxes, etc. - a low-profile, low power-consuming technology such as Neo's would be the logical choice.
