"To do so leaves the door open to too many forms of conflicts.." By that
I meant conflicts of interest, of course.

Like the conflicts of interest that occur between the company that provides the number one operating system (MSFT) and those that create applications to run on it? As Mr.Bill has stated in the past, the big money is in apps not OS's....and how better to to get a jump on the apps then by controlling the platform. MSFT may have ruined that blatant form of conflict of interest for present or future companies to exploit...or have they?

Will this at some time in the future conflict with the MSO's own digital interactive delivery platforms, once they are created?
Of course it will. Interactive TV is a stupid idea who's time will never come if the internet fulfills its true promise.

As a matter of fact broadcast TV itself is someday doomed by broadband internet.

Its a messy confusing conflict of interest, just like everything else that happens when there is a major technological revolution. Better that the MSO's have a piece of the new action than lose everything that they base themselves on.

How we get from here to there I dont know.
