Oh Hal, Hi! You touched a painful nerve there. I invested in Iomega about a year or two ago. It turned out to be quite painful and bloody!

I thought their product was a good idea due to the limits of normal floppy drives.

I guess they just got stuck in the "chasm" in terms of the technology adoption cycle. Some jumped in because they needed more disk space. I plan to have one in my next PC. They didn't (or haven't) made it to the point where they became the universally accepted drive to replace the floppy drive. I also think this networked economy of ours which allows users to send files over networks has negated some of the need for the zip drive.

I wish Iomega had become what people hoped. I know I would be in much less pain. I did learn something from the experience. You need to consider waiting until the technology has "crossed the chasm" before jumping in. Take a look at "The Gorilla Game" for more details.
