I think it would be too expensive...like owning two primary residences.

Blue, on your questions.

1) Is there a poll for asking that the better functions of both SIs be integrated?

That is much too vague for a poll question, Blue. You would have to break down the functions one by one. One man's "better" function is another man's "worse" function. And a lot of people aren't even aware of the substantive differences between the two sites. (I'm not talking bells & whistles here.) If you are interested in seeing the kind of debate that has been going on about functionality, etc., you might take a look at the Beta Site Launch thread.

2) Has anyone determined whether it's technologically feasible to keep both SIs and at what cost?

Well, it's technologically feasible to run both sites all right, because both sites are running right now. It's not Beta any more, it's New SI; and Classic SI will keep on running for at least a month -- maybe more, if we can get a stay of execution.

We don't know how much it costs, specifically, to keep them both running because nobody in management has as yet answered our questions about that.

That is the problem. Management has gone on a silence strike. Which is basically why Lather went public with the petition. And rightly so, IMO.
