Actually, today I was having a pleasant time. Sometimes it is right to split, sometimes it is right to lump. Look, maybe this is part of the confusion: the "conservative movement" includes libertarians;old- fashioned fiscal conservatives;social conservatives, mostly drawn either from the Evangelical South or the Catholic North; neo- conservatives, some of whom are barely conservative, but still favor the Republicans on defense, and some of whom are moderately socially conservative; and a smattering of religious Jews and Muslims in the social conservative camp. Generally, social conservatives are especially labeled conservatives, and since they are the one's that most people think of, I didn't bother to differentiate. I admit that my comments are far less applicable to those primarily of libertarian or fiscal conservative tendencies, and that they are most applicable to intellectuals within the respective constituencies...
