Digital Microwave Corporation Receives $2.3 Million Contract for
Altium And DXR 700 Radio Deployments in the Philippines

SAN JOSE, Calif., Aug. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Digital Microwave Corporation
(Nasdaq: DMIC - news), today announced that it received a $2.3 million
contract from Globe Telecom, a full-service telecommunications company,
based in Metro Manila, Philippines. Digital Microwave will provide
radios from two of its newest and most innovative microwave radio
families: the Altium(TM) and DXR(TM) 700 series of radios. The radios
are scheduled for delivery during the current fiscal quarter for
deployment in the expansion of Globe Telecom's GSM (Global System for
Mobile Communications) network in the Metro Manila area.

Digital Microwave Corporation's Altium radio offers innovative, state-
of-the-art, synchronous technology for high-capacity and high-performance
requirements. The Altium radio is designed to provide fiber optics-
level capacity transport (STM-1/OC-3) for densely populated areas
where added capacity transmission is required.

The DXR 700 series of radios is designed to satisfy network requirements
for flexibility, performance and growth in transmission capacities. It
is ideally suited to long-haul, medium-capacity transmission. Its
advanced modulation techniques provide highly efficient use of the
radio spectrum, which in turn gives robust performance and fiber-like
signal quality for reliable, long-distance linking.

''Globe Telecom is focused on the expansion of quality cellular
service to a growing number of subscribers,'' commented Emmanuel R.
Estrade, Vice President of Mobile Engineering Planning for Globe
Telecom. ''Because of the technologies used in the Digital Microwave
Corporation radio systems, we feel confident that we can quickly and
reliably extend and grow the services we offer our customers.''

Digital Microwave Corporation Chairman and CEO Charles D. Kissner
added, ''We are pleased that because of the breadth of our radio
product line that we are able to meet the specific requirements of the
Globe Telecom network deployment.''

Headquartered in San Jose, California, Digital Microwave Corporation
provides microwave radio solutions to connect, enable and grow
communications networks worldwide. The Company's industry-leading
broadband, medium-capacity and low-capacity radios transport data,
voice and video for public and private networks in a wide range of
global environments. Digital Microwave Corporation brings value to a
diverse range of customers through its vast array of quality systems,
