U.S. home affordability fell in Q2 -- NAR

''Essentially, a rise in family income was offset by a combination of higher mortgage rates and an increase in the median existing home price,'' Fred Flick, NAR vice president of economic research, said in a statement.

The median price of a starter home rose in the second quarter to $113,500 from $109,900 in the first quarter and was also up from $109,400 in the second quarter of 1998, NAR said.
