JFD, Only reason i can see the disconnect happening between Intel and MSFT is that Intel seems to have many more negative analysts commenting on Intel while MSFT has enjoyed mostly a positive outlook from the "experts". Intel stock may have been depressed for that reason. Once the bearish analysts change their tune, you would have to think something is up.
Meanwhile, if intel stays high, i plan to pick up MSFT----still not willing to get away from a defensive near term outlook. Still want to hold about 10 to 20 MSFT(much less than my usual over 50%) during possibly a rocky couple of months. Still plan to stay in cash for the most part. There is too much good news possible on MSFT to remain too bearish. A settlement with the DOJ would do wonders. In the meantime, it is possible that Intel type of momentum might be building up and ready to explode shortly or early next year. It is only a matter of time, IMHO. I still expect the big gains to be around the end of the year but i don't see a downside below 80----which to me makes this a safe stock.
