Dave and Thread:
I would like to thank everyone for the great Storage/CDMA discussions occurring. I haven't been very vocal lately (sorry ;), but I do appreciate all the wonderful, knowledge-filled posts!

DownSouth:
Have you heard any estimates on how fast the NAS market is growing? I think that owning NTAP & EMC is like owning LU & CSCO, a no-brainer (albeit without any true gorillas)!

That was a terrific post, Dave. Very reassuring for those of us overweighted in Q <g>. Thanks for taking the time to explain.

Dave,

<< Don't forget that phase 1 CDMA2000 is supposed to double capacity while providing data up to 144kps. Can this be said of GPRS and EDGE? >>

Yes! Theoretically! <g> Operative words above may be "supposed to" (phase 1 CDMA2000) <gg>. Aren't we getting a bit into what Mqrice calls VW40 (and I call SW 1.01) stuff here? <ggg>. Perhaps we will know more when and if Omnipoint proceeds to trial GPRS in early 2000.

Here are 2 pretty good links for GPRS that include roadmaps and timetables:

gsmdata.com

mobilegprs.com

<< I put so much energy into trying to understand this arcane 3G air interface debate >>

You and I have that in common, and everytime I think I have found one answer, I in reality have 3 more questions. I have promised myself I would focus on 2G stuff and commercially released 2G+ until December when the ETSI UTMS Phase 1 specification is published but I keep wandering over the 3G puzzle and the migration path to it.

PS: I enjoyed your recent exchange with Tero on the Nokia thread.
