Benny, I like your posts. You CONTRIBUTE to the thread. I think the point being made is that we don't all have to agree, that's fine--if we did there would be no point in the thread. I think there is also a place here for both longs and shorts--they are really just two different points of view. I can learn from the posts of both. The thread starts to deteriorate when we ATTACK the PERSON, rather than challenge the point of view with our point of view on the same issues. Then we get into the other person as a greater asshole than ourselves, but in the process just demonstrate our human liabilities. I like it best when everybody feels free to spout off in whatever direction.....I pay attention only to the part of it that makes sense to me. I have a Spiritual Teacher, Adi Da who says: "Cooperation + Tolerance = Peace" That has some applicability on this thread as well. You can profoundly disagree with somebody while still cooperating with them and tolerating them. The moment you start consulting your own reactivity and as a result begin attacking the other, then the whole scene degenerates pretty quickly--and the useful CONTENT of the thread goes WAY down. I don't expect you to agree, necessarily, but hope you can see the point I (and others) are trying to make. Good luck to everybody. Jim
