Steve <AMZN will run up again during Christmas season to give longs a final chance to exit.> This bit of 'common wisdom', or folklore, will keep many individuals from selling and will encourage some to buy as the institutions dump their shares. As with other fables, there may be little reality to this supposed run-up, unless a run-up from 20 to 40 post split turns you on.
