Alan,

Not sure what beta has to do with it, although the first link I copied does act squirrelly. Agent99 posted WSJ text in this post:

In yesterdays WallStreetJournal, the page A1 Column 1 article explored daytrading "stresses" as relates to the Atlanta shootings. The article quoted a Gary Korn, a 43 year old lawyer, as working off a Level-II addiction by using an enforced buy-and-hold AA-type recovery administered by a Merrill Lynch account rep. Those words, unlikely as I find them, are paraphrased from the article.

Age, profession, location, and trading frequency all square with Gary Korn:

Given reporter willingness to torque peoples comments - especially those of frequent retail traders - to suit the paper's pre-determined editorial slant, I don't necessarily buy into the column's conclusion that Gary is quitting trading as an addiction.

But who knows. On SI-beta, Gary has disabled PM. It only occurred to me moments ago to PM him on SI-legacy. In any case, finding what appeared to be someone I had corresponded with in the past on page 1 of the WSJ prompted me to comment on Andy Warhols concept of 'in the future, everyone will be famous - but only for 15 minutes.'

My apologies for the confusion.

EDIT:
The links appear to be working this time - at least on SI-legacy. I, also, found Gary to be a great guy and did not intend the "15 minutes" to be a negative comment, but just a comment about the fickle nature of news and life in general. I continue to be mildly amazed when I find acquaintences, no matter how remote, quoted in the paper.
