Joke, As an engineer, it was a great news to me that LSI is going to provide FPGA cores to their customers. As a share holder of LSI, I also believe they made a right business decision. However, I have not yet convinced if they have picked the right partner for it. We probably need to wait for another two to three years before we will have a better visibility in it. Nevertheless, it is still a great news.

Also, I would like to point out to you that the winning of LSI does not means that ALTR LSCC and XLNX will go out of business. LSI and these companies are not in the same business segment. For the next 5 to 6 years, they will only have a very minor overlap with each other, and there will be no any kind of head to head competition for these companies.

I would like to emphasize to you that the logic chip business is not like CPU's. There will always be many players in the world. No one can dominate the whole logic business in the next 10 years, not to mention there will always be new technologies comes out. Besides, Be watch for INTC. INTC has already announced that they will have FPGA core in some of their new system on chip products. So, thing is getting more and more interesting now. You do not need to be too exciting about the news and be rude to others. As an advice, you may be better to own all these companies. There is no need to think who will win the battle in the next 30 years.
