Gary, i just checked marketgauge - it is not updated. the specialist/member short positions are per 07/16.
btw, the NYSE short interest ratio is at it's lowest level in years, and dollar volume of OEX puts is at it's lowest EVER. these measures are not helpful for timing purposes, but they suggest that the market may well have problems in the medium term.

Once we get by the next three or four weeks and the next FED rate hike at the end of this month, investors will be focusing on third qtr earnings... But, until we get there, we should see more downside as things that used to bounce, don't... We'll probably settle in the Dow 10,000 area...
