MM..as a normal part-time poster and lurking SI "dues payer"...What's the answer??? How about SI introducing the "IGNORE" feature? or "start a thread that identifies alias' with "bashing" patterns determined from "bookmarked" tracking..for all to see (including SI managers)

Concerning the bob sims post on "powerful bashers" on SI; please come over to our thread with 13,000 posts in 7 months with hardly a trace of negativity, bashing or rudeness; SI seems to be a reflection of the current culture, so, there's nothing anyone can do to force members to post with integrity and good intentions. Just like with television, if someone doesn't like the channel they're watching, they may shut it off or go to another program; at SI, members have hundreds (maybe thousands) of threads to choose from, and annoying (bashing or hyping) posts are part of being "among the public"; Chasing members with ill-intentions is probably not the answer since they can easily change their alias on SI; appealing to administration to police the threads is certainly not the answer, and trying to force members to comply with a 'rule book' on how to post will also never work; unfortunately, these annoying posters have the first amendment on their side (and it's a good thing that they do). As with tabloid newspapers, cult literature and printed propaganda, it seems as though the best strategy when dealing with people who have a slanted agenda, is to simply ignore them (or identify them and leave it at that); if no one pays attention, no harm will be done and eventually they will go away; We'd have a lot more to worry about if any sort of action is taken against these pranksters, because then all members would post in fear of censorship...and if that day ever comes...it will truly be the beginning of the end for all message boards since any governing body will (no doubt) want to know the names, addresses & telephone numbers of all members...and before you know it...big brother will be a lot bigger than he is now...sw
