Neither "same-store" nor "existing-customer" sales comparisons take warehouses into consideration, but it's not a stupid question. Inventory turns are a critical measure of retail health, and I would expect Amazon's inventory turns are at least double those of Officemax.

All surviving major retailers will be some combination of virtual and tangible. Amazon must go through the pain of creating brick-and-mortar warehouses and service centers, and Walmart must go through the pain of lower per-square-foot sales, since many of their regular customers will opt for online convenience and cut back on in-store purchases. Walmart will survive. So will Amazon.
