DRBES,

There should be some start of a run up soon if the rumors we believe are true.

Maybe not, given all the past egregious experiences.

LOL! "Egregious experiences", is as concise a description of AMD ownership as there is. My compliments on the phrase.

I have been thinking about playing the Athlon introduction and flash shortage by buying some AMD shares. But as you point out, the price action of the stock is disturbing. Down again today! Ominous.

Re: the stock is acting as though in for more bad news

The run up seemed to start after the earnings announcement, then got cut off when Atiq Raz left. I would have expected his exit after the report of a large loss would have done a lot more than just stall the stock unless there were a number of people who had a great deal of confidence in their positions.

It seems as though most of the AMD investors have either left the stock or are convinced that the news on August 9 will be good enough to risk holding on until then.

We just have to wait and see. Intel's announcement of immenent availability of a 550 Celeron would indicate the most of the k7s will ship at 550 or higher. Otherwise they're just cannibalizing their own sales. (and I'm sure that Intel knows what's going on with amd) That's on the old process - the process that pretty much everyone thinks is well behind intel's. The 600 PIII is more properly described as an overclocked 575 if the information from c't is to be believed. It has the appearance of desperation on the part of Intel, but amd still has to produce, in volume. The days of marking down the speed of chips in order to segment the market would seem to be over at Intel. I take it as a sign, It'll soon be clear if thatt's right or wrong.
