Totally off topic: Anyone thinking about the RedHat IPO?

Not totally off topic Jill ;) . IMO, RedHat is the King of the U.S. Linux market. Can you give us an idea of when they might be going public?

As much of a fan I am of Linux and RedHat in particular, I don't think that I would bet my money on RedHat (fundamentally) because of the awkward situation that they are in. They are selling software that is essentially available for free. They sell a single copy to an organization, who can then make as many copies of it as they want. These are inherent strengths in the Linux distribution and adoption model, but I don't think that it works too well for a company who has to act in the interest of its shareholders. I would think that shareholders would be saying, "No, we don't want to give this software away anymore", and that could lead to problems. BWDIK, as usual...
