Yes, Medgar Evers would qualify as a martyr. There is an interesting point, though. Suppose that Oswald did kill Kennedy. That would make Kennedy a martyr of the anti- Communist cause, since the motive was avenging the attempts on Castro. RFK was a martyr to the state of Israel, since he was killed by a Palestinian who was upset at American support of Israel. Otherwise, they were just prominent men who were targeted by losers for no particularly good reason, like Hinckley shooting Reagan or Squeaky Fromme shooting Ford.....
