I expected that if George Gilder had given it his stamp of approval that it would be immune to the market and other mundane human influences.

After all, isn't that what longs on this thread have been trying to brainwash me with?

What's more, if NOPT returns to where it started or worse, why should anyone be surprised? Long term investors who bought in the 30's know they'll have no regrets if the company achieves long term success. Whether someone paid 15 or 30 and spent say, 5000 vs 10,000, they can say the cost difference was small compared to the return, if the stock still sits at 1300 in perhaps 10 years, after a 30% retreat from it's highs. This is one reason why Longs do not and should not sell the short term opportunities. Hey, they wouldn't be longs anymore, and they get better long term results this way to boot.
