It strikes me that the last paragraph is the significant one in that story: "It's still quite early in the development process for Millennium...".

It's way too early, I suspect, to know much about what will happen with that system, but grafting code elements from NT strikes me as a good thing. It's unfortunate that they had to abandon the original plan of doing away with the DOS world after Windows 98, so it seems wise to move as close as possible to NT even if they can't quite manage to run consumer Windows on the NT kernel.
