Stan: good questions re: IMAC offer.

It "appears" the quid pro quo is buy elnk for 3 years, get a free machine. Most likely, there's a "kickback" to freemac or aapl 'cause they got to make money as well.

Will elnk profit? IMO - got to.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

EARTHLINK SECURES EXCLUSIVE POSITION ON 1 MILLION FREEMAC.COM COMPUTERS

EarthLink and FreeMac.com team up to offer free Apple iMacs

PASADENA, Calif., August 3, 1999 EarthLink (NASDAQ: ELNK) and FreeMac.com
today announced that they have joined forces to answer the challenge of the
“Free PC” movement. According to the agreement, EarthLink will be the
official Internet Service Provider (ISP) used by all FreeMac.com customers,
estimated to reach up to 1 million people.

The arrangement provides an attractive alternative for consumers who want a
free, brand-name computer and reliable, award-winning Internet access.
Leveraging EarthLink's existing relationship with Apple Computer (NASDAQ:
APPL), FreeMac.com will give qualified customers a brand new Apple iMac
computer and set them up with a full-featured EarthLink Sprint Internet
access account. EarthLink is currently the default ISP on the Internet
Setup Wizard of all iMacs.

“We've teamed with FreeMac.com to build on our existing iMac presence,
offering potential Net surfers an attractive Free PC alternative,” said Bob
Johnson, vice president of OEM channel sales. “Instead of the usual
no-name hardware and no-frills Internet service, we'll be offering
consumers two strong and trustworthy brands.”

FreeMac.com's mission is to build the FreeMac community, a select group of
over 1 million households who will be able to take advantage of discounted
product and service offerings as well as other highly targeted marketing
opportunities. FreeMac.com's plan is to offer new iMacs to those who agree
to pay for three years of EarthLink Sprint Internet access service and
qualify for a FreeMac Visa card.

Jonathan Strum, founder and CEO of FreeMac.com, said, “In keeping with our
business model, we had to make sure the ISP we chose is an established
brand, has an excellent reliability record, offers top-notch customer
service, and goes above and beyond to provide Internet tools and education
to its members. We got all that and more with EarthLink.”

All FreeMac community members will pay EarthLink's standard $19.95 per
month, unlimited access fee, and receive a full-featured EarthLink Sprint
Internet access account. Unlike most other Free PC offers, members will
have access to award-winning 24-hour-a-day, 356-day-a-year technical
support staffed by more than 1,600 support reps. EarthLink Sprint accounts
also include a free 6 MB Web space and the Click-n-Build site building
tool, a customizable EarthLink Sprint Personal Start Page, bLink bi-monthly
printed magazine, access to 2,300 local dial-up numbers, and more.
